![]() ![]() This Plunder Panic review is based on a Nintendo Switch copy provided by Will Winn Games.Party Panic is a crazy online and local-multiplayer party game. Plunder Panic is out on Nintendo Switch at a $19.99 price. You can customize each match by objectives, select the island to play in, the items that will spawn, as well as any Modify-arrs to spice things up. Plunder Panic is a fun old-school infused game that pays homage to the games of the 16-bit era with a swashbuckling action–arcade experience for up to 12 players by way of local multiplayer and AI bots or in online multiplayer. The last one is the Desert Sphinx, an arid location that is now stranded in the middle of the ocean – be mindful of its dust storms! The Crystal Geysers feature shiny sky rocks that hover above an active geyser zone, with jets of water shooting out of the ground, which can send pirates skyward. The Mayan Ruins feature the remnants of an ancient civilization where the great winged serpent Quetzalcoatl guards the timeworn relics. The game used to have nine islands – Mount Mutiny, Spellbound Castle, Shipwreck Shanty, Lost City of Atlantis, Lamplight Port, Bilgewater Brig, The Lost Glacier, Cherry Blossom, and Treehouse Hideout – but thanks to the latest update, three new islands are also part of the mix: the Mayan Ruins, the Crystal Geysers, and the Desert Sphinx. Explosions and sustained cannon fire can knock gold out of said chest, so be careful! The new items are a bag of cursed gold doubloons that can be sneaked into the other crew’s chest and a throwing axe that can deal some serious damage. Plunder Panic has now been updated, and if you haven’t done so, downloading said update will add a new game mode, a new pair of items, and three new islands! You’ll be getting Gold Rush, in which each crew must gather as much loot as possible and deposit it back in the team’s chest. You can have Random Teams so that at the start of each round, all pirates are shuffled between teams Mutiny, which removes captains from the equation Armed and Dangerous, which will provide all crew members with a sword and a Captain’s Hat, Burning Man, which makes every crew member drop a Molotov cocktail when defeated, or Out of Stock, which affects Swabby’s ability to sell crew members some swords for the match. You also have some Modify-arrs (get it?) that can be applied to each match to spice things up. You have the Treasure Chest that you must fill up with three bags of gold, the short fuse Grape Shot that will deal damage to the enemy ship while also unleashing shrapnel toward the enemy crew, the always handy Blunderbuss, which is much, much better than a sword – you know what they say! – or the amazing Captain’s Hat, which will make a character look like a Captain while also granting an important advantage: being able to take an extra hit! There are several items you can use to your advantage. To get the hang of things, I suggest you check out the game’s Tutorial section for some useful tips. You can also play this one with a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Said actions include collecting some loot, stealing from your opponents, or attacking with a sword or an item if you have one – maybe throw some dynamite toward a group of enemies? Up to eight players can play locally, which is dropped to four locally if everyone is gaming with a dual Joy-con setup. Once you’re ready to go, you’ll control your character with the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you jump with the B button, taunt with the X button, and perform actions with the Y button. Then there’s Rowboat, in which you must row the powder kegs in the rowboat to your opponent’s ship to make it go BOOM! ![]() For Cannon, get a cannonball, load it into the cannon on the island, and fire it three times to sink the enemy ship – while also working on cutting the wick to keep your enemies from firing. ![]() In Captain, you must conquer the opposing crew by taking care of their Captain and eliminating all of their lives. For Plunder, you must grab gold from the island and deposit it in your team’s treasure chest while also stealing from the enemy ship. The objectives include Plunder, Captain, Cannon, and Rowboat. You can play this one either on your own with some AI bots joining in on the fun, in local multiplayer, or in online multiplayer! The first team to capture an objective wins the game, so you’ll need to be on high alert in case a sneaky pirate tries to pull a fast one on you! Captains for each crew will start with a sword to protect their crew, and crew members can obtain an upgrade by buying a sword from Swabby in exchange for one bag of gold. Plunder Panic from Will Winn Games is a swashbuckling action–arcade game for up to 12 players in which two crews battle for supremacy.
